Opening of the Museum of the Battle of Warsaw 1920 in Ossów
On August 16, 2025, the opening ceremony of the Museum of the Battle of Warsaw 1920 in Ossów took place. The event had a historical and military character and gathered numerous guests, including representatives of state authorities, the armed forces, and veteran organizations.
The program of the ceremony included:
- a spectacular reenactment of the Battle of Warsaw featuring approximately 150 reenactors, 50 horses, a Renault FT tank, and period armored vehicles,
- concerts by the “Mazowsze” ensemble and the Representative Artistic Ensemble of the Polish Army,
- demonstrations of modern military equipment and promotional stands of military and museum institutions,
- free admission to the museum, including a multimedia exhibition with original artifacts from 1920, such as weapons, uniforms, propaganda posters, and a French de Bange cannon.
The museum is located on a historic site where key military operations of the Polish–Soviet War took place. It was built on a symbolic 17-meter-high elevation, at the foot of which white-and-red banners fly atop 70-meter masts. A 500-meter-long Victory Avenue leads to the building. The permanent exhibition is divided into four thematic modules and utilizes modern multimedia presentation methods, combining archival film and photographic materials, documents, sound, and specially composed music to fully recreate the atmosphere of the historical events.
The opening of the museum marked the culmination of anniversary celebrations and a significant step in preserving the memory of the heroes of the Battle of Warsaw. The facility will be open to visitors year-round, offering both historical education and reflection on the significance of the 1920 victory for the fate of Europe.
